Privacy notice

This notice explains what Nonna's Italian Kitchen collects when you use this website, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we collect what we need to cook, hand over or deliver your order and to reach you about it. We do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising.

What we collect and why

When you order, we ask for:

• Your name and phone number, so we can label the order and reach you if there is a problem with it.
• A delivery address, only if you choose delivery.
• An email address, if you want a confirmation by email. It is optional.
• What you ordered, the options you chose, your pickup or delivery choice, any time you scheduled, and anything you write in the special instructions, including allergy notes.
• For card payments, the card brand and last four digits, so your receipt shows which card was used.

We use this to prepare your order, take payment, hand it over or deliver it, and sort out any problem with it.

If you send a catering request, we keep the details you enter in the form so we can reply and plan the order with you.

Payments

Card details are entered in a form hosted by Shift4, our payment processor. Your card number goes straight to Shift4 and never touches our website or our database. We receive only the card brand, the last four digits and confirmation that the payment went through. Refunds go back through Shift4 to the same card.

Where it is stored

Orders and the details above are kept in a database run by our web vendor, hosted in the United States. Access is limited to the people who run the kitchen and the vendor who maintains the site.

Who we share it with

Only the services needed to run your order:

• Shift4, to take card payments and process refunds.
• The companies that run our database and host the website.
• Resend, our email provider, which sends your confirmation if you gave an email address.
• Vercel Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and does not receive order details.

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. We may share it if the law requires us to, for example in response to a valid legal request.

Cookies and browser storage

Your cart and your pickup or delivery preference are kept in your browser's local storage so they are still there when you come back. They stay on your device until you place the order or clear your browser data.

Page analytics are cookie-less. We can see which pages are visited, not who visited them.

The kitchen board that staff use to run orders sets one session cookie after a staff member enters their PIN. Customers never receive it. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers on this site.

How long we keep it

We keep order records because accounting and tax rules require a record of sales. You can ask us to delete your personal details at any time. We will remove your name, contact details and address where we can, and keep only what the accounting record needs, such as the order total and date.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

• Tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy.
• Correct something that is wrong.
• Delete your details.

To do any of these, contact us through our Hours & contact page. We may ask you to confirm something from an order, such as the phone number on it, so we know we are talking to the right person. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

New Jersey and a number of other states have privacy laws that give residents rights like these, including the right to opt out of the sale of personal information and of its use for targeted advertising. We are a small business and may fall below the thresholds where those laws apply, but we honor these requests anyway. We do not sell your information or use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us their details, contact us and we will delete them.

Changes to this notice

We will update this notice when the way we handle information changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
